Procrastination. I’ve been there. Everyone’s been there.
Let me give you one practical tip to get shit done. Especially when you don’t feel like getting shit done.
Choose something. Anything! Don’t even use the word commit or discipline. Just do the thing every single day whether you feel like it or not. Your only commitment is to the activity not to the big picture.
Sometimes when I get to the gym I sit in the car and I’m like “I’m not in the mood to lift some weights today”. Those are days when your energy is a little bit lower and those are the days you just fucking do it anyway!
For example when I’m laying in bed and it’s cold outside. I don’t think about getting up. I just get up, and you make that a habit. You want to get to a point where you don’t have to exercise your will to get up and do something and make that particular thing a part of your routine.
Just pick something if you’re having trouble doing something that has grand implications for your life back up for a moment, don’t do that just yet. Begin with something stupid simple like “I’m going to drink 8 glasses of water everyday.” and make sure you do it everyday. I guarantee over a course of couple of weeks you’re going to do that thing without you thinking about it. And then you’re going to be confident in your self and your ability to create a habit and then you apply that to something bigger, so it starts to grow in implication.
Habits are the building blocks of our lives not the goals or the visions or the “big” ideas. It’s what you do every single day that matters. Develop good habits that will carry you through to having a successful life.
